I would like to hear some ideas about why we, modern human beings, have lost our connection to nature...because I'd like to get it back. Thanks.

Conquest Vs Cooperation

Idea Description

I think we developed a conquest mentality when we started to till the land, eat the fruit of our own knowledge, and regard ourselves as little gods with life-and death power over our own plot--then everything outside the plot became "other". No turning back the clock on agriculture, but we can at least rethink our mindset.

When we think in terms of cooperation instead of conquest, when we partner with our crops and collaborate with our gardens, when we respect our livestock with a just exchange of quality for quantity of life, we rejoin the larger picture.

Idea Description

We lost our connection with nature when we stopped using slash and burn practices. Slash and burn relates to growing crops.

Idea Description

I believe in my situation and probably so many, we are so rushed and aren't taking the time to smell the roses... that is a big problem, time. Slow down, let's put our priorities in order, obviously it is on top of your list. It should also be on top of my list. Hmmmm, I think I'll put it there... you're right, we only live once, and nature is one of God's most precious gifts to us, and it is truly awesome. Let's go smell the roses soon, and then it will make us want to plant some, and then we'll be enjoying more of life along the way, the more of nature we'll get, the more we'll want. Good I read this.

Idea Description

I beleive that most lost connections with nature, fellow man, sensiblity, common good, etc are due to being caught up in the cares of this world in providing for ourselves. In a word selfishness. The best way to get off self and into others is by being selfless. I.e. doing something for another without thought of compensation or reward but strictly because it's the right thing to do. More directly being motovated by love (concern for another) to do good. Then I think the beauty of what is around us begins to resonant with our spirit and gets into the soul.
