Idea Description

Shark fins, rhino horns, bear bile--the popularity of all of these products depends on the faith that they convey a healing spiritual essence of the animal to the consumer. And it's hard for people to give up what they see as their best hope to save a life or end suffering.

Native Americans also believe in the medicine-power of various animals, but we cut to the chase, and go directly to the spirit of the animal--no chopping up animals into bits necessary. Sharing the American Indian approach, of invoking animal spirits with respect rather than violence, with Chinese shamans and healers, just as medical doctors from one country shares effective treatments with another, would leave their culture intact but enhanced--and would jibe well with their Buddhist traditions, as well.
